THE PROJECT.

The goal of this project was to design the front page of an informational website that catered to the needs of a specific target audience and utilized user research and visual design principles. This was created as a project in my DES 112 UI/UX class. We were tasked to deliver our concept by designing for both desktop and mobile interfaces. My proposal was a creative maker space that offers free and affordable classes to low-income communities in Oakland, CA. Through this project, I gained experience making wireframes and design comps, creating audience personas, conducting human-centered research, and designing web pages for both desktop and mobile. Through research done for this project, I learned that gaining hands-on design skills is often considered a luxury in low-income communities. This project inspired me to think about ways we can implement these kinds of programs and make them more readily accessible and available to people.
